Over 4,400 years old, this lyre fragment is attributed to the Sumerian culture of Ur of Ancient Mesopotamia. Made of gold, shell, lapis lazuli, bitumen, and silver, it features a bull head with detailed eyes, a snout, and a lapis beard, and was likely originally affixed to the front of a wooden lyre. It measures 40 × 25 × 19 cm (5 3/4 x 9 13/16 x 7 1/2 in). This artifact is now housed by the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was excavated in 1928 by Leonard Woolley fro
