In 1927, fresh off tagging Babe Ruth for the final out of the ’26 World Series, Rogers Hornsby spent one blistering season in New York, hitting .361 and leading the league in runs, walks and on-base percentage. Charles M. Conlon caught this swing—later used for Hornsby’s 1931 W517 strip card—and turned perhaps the greatest right-handed bat of his era into something kids could hold in their hands.
