🌳✂️ Have you seen these popping up on your apple tree? 👀These fast-growing shoots are called water sprouts (sometimes called suckers) and they can show up anytime! ⚠️🍎 Unlike normal branches, they shoot straight up from the trunk or main limbs and don’t turn into productive branches. Instead, they steal energy away from fruit growth. 😩✅ That’s why I prune them out any time of year. Even though I’m not pruning my apple trees heavily right now, I always cut these off flush to the trunk. 💪👨‍�

🍎✂️ Have you seen these shoots popping up on your apple trees? 👀They’re called root suckers and they grow from the rootstock below the graft union. 🌱 If you leave them, they’ll take over your tree because the rootstock is usually way more vigorous than the fruiting variety up top! ⚠️✅ Always prune these off right at the base where they connect to the tree.🗓️ And yes, you can do this any time of year, even in the middle of summer.🐾 Also, special shout out to Miss Fig, our new garden cat, who
