The "Stranger Things" series finale failed to deliver the bloodbath that many fans expected. Instead, the show played it way too safe.
Stranger Things Season 5’s biggest twist, that the Mind Flayer was the real villain all along, was pretty well signposted. The end of Season 4 had apparently turned the entire story upside down, with Vecna claiming he was the show’s real villain and that he’d created the Mind Flayer.

4 Stranger Things spinoffs that need to happen
Dungeons and Dragons has been a big part of Stranger Things from the beginning, with the Mind Flayer, Vecna, and many of the other threats coming directly from that board game. However, there is one type of villain D&D lovers were waiting to see in Stranger Things but never did. That leaves the door open for a vampire-inspired spinoff series.
This doesn’t mean Stranger Things Season 5 was a storytelling failure, of course. The reality is that a good story is far more than just a Wikipedia entry, a checklist of facts and questions answered.
