The four fuzzy, currently-flightless birds are now named Buddy, Frankie, Mavis and Tweedy, after beloved Chicago musicians Buddy Guy, Frankie Knuckles, Mavis Staples and Jeff Tweedy.

Famous local musicians are the inspiration for the names of four new piping plover chicks​ living at Chicago's Montrose Beach Dunes.

Chicago's newest additions to the piping plover community need names. The parents, beloved Imani and Sea Rocket, laid their first egg of the season on the Montrose Beach dunes shoreline back in May.

The names of the piping plover chicks at Montrose Beach Dunes were announced Monday — they're named for Buddy Guy, Frankie Knuckles, Mavis Staples, and Jeff Tweedy.
